Jacket (baked) potatos are mcuh better done in a combination oven if you have one. For me, the best part of eating a jaclet potato is the crunchy skin – something sadly missing from a microwaved potato.
Of course if one has time, you can always ‘crisp’ the skin in a pre-heated oven for a few minutes.

Looks tasty! But I have to argue that a potatoe cooked in the microwave is STEAMED not baked!!

Thanks Cheers!
Yes technically you are right! This is a “steamed potato” in the microwave, but I decide to use a more recognizable term for someone just learning how to cook!
For those of you who bake your potatoes in the oven, never wrap them in tin foil or you will end up with a “steamed” potaoto instead of a baked potato!

I encountered a problem when microwaving my potato. Part of it got burnt and I don’t know how that happened! It literally became crispy. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Taralen,
All microwaves have “hot spots”, which is why you need to rotate food if your microwave does not have a rotating disk in it. (You can Google microwave hot spots for the technical details).
I’m guessing your microwave has quite a serious “hot spot”. Even if you do have a rotating disk, you may need to reposition your potato every minute or so to avoid over cooking it in just one spot.
Give that a try and let me know if that helps!
Cheers,
Kathy
