I enjoyed this animated video! I think zesting deserved its own video, though. It’s also worth reminding folks to check the recipe before juicing for zest since it is easier to zest a whole lemon, as obvious as that sounds. Great job.

Thanks Brian! All the cookie, candy and ice cream making lovers out there, check out Brian’s great photo-tutorial recipes at chocolategourmand! (It may be a bit advanced for many of the startcooking crowd but it’s definitely worth having a look!!)

If zesting a lemon ( and we are going off topic here) do make sure that you buy an unwaxed lemon. Most lemons on sale in the UK have a protective wax on them and need steeping in hot water to wash the wax off. Much easier to buy one which doesn’t have the coating (and will probably be newer).

Jon, you have (as always!) brought up a very good point! BTW everyone should wash all fruits and vegetables before eating them!

Thank you! I am making a recipe tonight that calls for 2 lemons, “zested and juiced.” I’m new to the kitchen, so I had no idea what to do. My search brought me to other sites first, but the video on this one made it much easier to understand than the explanations on the other sites! Thank you – I’ll be coming back to this site!
