Stale bread
serves 4
- 1 loaf of crusty bread
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- 1 pinch of salt and pepper
- 3/4 cup of parmesan cheese - grated
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Slice bread into about 1/4 inch thick slices.
Spread the sliced bread out on a baking sheet with sides. Lightly brush top side with olive oil.
Sprinkle each slice with some salt and a grind or two of pepper. (This is when you could also rub the bread with fresh garlic and/or add a tiny sprinkle of dried oregano)
Sprinkle a small amount of cheese on each slice.
Bake for 9-14 minutes depending on how crispy you like your cheesy toast rounds.
