Bow Ties with Beef and Beans
serves 4 - 6
- 1 pound of ground beef
- 1 cup of chopped onion
- 1 can of Great Northern beans (15 ounces) - rinsed and drained
- 1 can of diced tomato (15 ounces) - undrained
- 2 cups of beef broth
- 2 cups of bow tie pasta
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of oregano
- 1 teaspoon of basil
- 2 cups of broccoli
In a large frying pan brown the beef and onions over medium heat 6-8 minutes. Drain off excess fat.
Mix in the remaining ingredients, EXCEPT the broccoli.
Increase heat to medium high and bring everything to a boil.
Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Cook for 12 minutes.
Add the broccoli, cover and simmer an additional 3-5 minutes or until the broccoli in tender.
Season with more salt and freshly ground pepper.
