BOW TIES WITH BEEF AND BEANS

serves 4 - 6

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 cup of chopped onions
  • 1 can of Great Northern beans (15 ounces) - rinsed and drained
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes (15 ounces) - undrained
  • 2 cups of beef broth
  • 2 cups of bow tie pasta
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of oregano
  • 1 teaspoon of basil
  • 2 cups of broccoli

In a large frying pan brown the beef and onions over medium heat 6-8 minutes. Drain off excess fat.

Mix in the remaining ingredients, EXCEPT the broccoli.

Increase heat to medium high and bring everything to a boil.

Reduce heat to simmer and cover. Cook for 12 minutes.

Add the broccoli, cover and simmer an additional 3-5 minutes or until the broccoli in tender.

Season with more salt and freshly ground pepper.
