Drop in & Decorate - Then Go Fishposted in Lists and Leftovers by Kathy MaisterWith the season of giving almost here, my friend Lydia from ninecooks.com is gearing up for her annual “Drop In & Decorate” event.
As she describes it: “The basic idea behind Drop In & Decorate is simple: bake some cookies, invite friends (or family or co-workers or neighbors) to help decorate, and donate the cookies to a local shelter, food pantry, lunch program, senior center, etc. This is something anyone can do, in their own community, a way to give back, to have fun, to connect — without spending a lot of money. Drop In & Decorate can be done by one person, one family, one group of friends, one school class.” This year Lydia has developed a "how to host your own cookie decorating event" kit in conjunction with King Arthur Flour. It is a wonderful idea and I encourage anyone interested in setting up their own “Drop In & Decorate” event to check out Lydia’s site. She has already done all the planning for you! ********************************* "Teach A Man To Fish..." Jacqueline Church from The Leather District Gourmet has just done an amazing round up with the Sustainable Seafood Blog Event — “Teach a Man to Fish”! As Jacqueline says: “The event cast a wide net with Chefs Coast to Coast (Chef Barton Seaver, HookDC and Chef Peter Pahk, Silverado Resort, Napa), around the globe Italy, Croatia, India, Indonesia, Canada, South Africa. Catfish to Clams, Hake to Halibut and exceeded my expectations". I am thrilled that Jacqueline has included 3 startcooking.com recipes/videos as well! For all you fish lovers out there, this is definitely worth having a look! Cheers! Thank-you so much for that FABULOUS seafood round up! The recipes are a bit advanced for many of my startcooking crowd but they all look soooooo tempting. And yes, the "Isolated Foodie" link is correct. I just think that salmon strata looked so gook that everyone should go take a "look"!
